Hi there

Firstly, let me introduce myself! My name is Michaela Bentley and I am a 24 year old 4th generation Alaskan born and raised here in Juneau. My favorite thing about myself is that I'm a mom to my sweet Miley girl who was born in September of 2024. She was the best thing to ever happen to me, and a big reason why I am making this leap to open up my own business. She motivates me every day to be the best version of myself, so that I can be the best mom for her. I should also introduce her dad who is pictured with us above, my boyfriend Cole, who is also a huge reason why I am able to start this journey creating Taku Interiors.

 

Before Miley, I was working for the State of Alaska in the Governor's Office, dreaming daily of one day starting my own interior design business and getting out of my cornered cubicle. After I had Miley, Cole and I decided it was best I resign from my position and stay home with her, and I am so grateful and happy I did. After I got in the groove of motherhood, I knew I wanted to put my creativity to use and I got that itch again to start something. So, here I am 9 months postpartum committing to it. I am a mom to Miley first, but I want to be an Interior Designer for those who need me second.

As locals will know, Taku Interiors is named after the Taku River here in Southeast Alaska just outside of Juneau. I grew up on this river with family and friends, and it is my ultimate happy place. Anyone who is lucky enough to experience it and all its beauty knows it's one of the most magical places on earth. That being said, I knew my business would be named after it, because every time I am up the river I gain inspiration from it. From the colors of the different creeks and the changing leaves through the seasons, to the rustiness of old cabins nestled up against the mountains. Every cabin has a story to tell from years of use, and I believe that's the way it should be.

 

My goal with Taku Interiors is to help your home evolve as your story evolves, so that you story includes a home you love. I'm excited to share this new chapter of my life with all of you. Taku Interiors is not just a business for me; it’s a passion project that reflects my love for design and my desire to create beautiful spaces. I look forward to bringing a touch of Alaska's charm into every home I work on. Thank you for joining me on this journey, I can't wait to see where it takes us!
